PURPOSE : Basic aim of this project is to build high speed train corridor between Ahemdabad and Mumbai by August 2022 of length 508.17 km. 155.642 km of the proposed alignment falls in Maharastra, 350.530 km in Gujarat and 2 km in UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Estimated cost of this project is 1.08 lakh crore, being built with 80% loan from Japan.

The total land is over 1,400 hectares, with 353 hectares in Maharashtra and the rest in Gujarat. This is divided into 7,000 plots, in 195 villages in Gujarat and in 104 villages in Maharashtra. The project covers three districts in Maharashtra and eight in Guajarat, besides a small area inDadra & Nagar Haveli.
