NAME  :  POSHAN ( PM’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment )

TYPE OF YOJANA   :  Multi ministerial convergence mission for ICDS based monitoring  & policy direction regarding various nutrition schemes of various ministries.

PURPOSE  :  The basic aim of the this yojana is to deal with the problem of  malnutrition among children in India. This Yojana is to effectively fight the prevalent problems like Stunting and Anemia, low weight.

  • Poshan abhiyaan as an Apex body will miniter, supervise, Fix Targets & guide the nutrition related interventions across various ministries.

  • It will do mapping of various schemes which contribute towards addressing malnutrition. It will introduce robust convergence mechanism, ICT based Real Time Monitoring System,. It will incentivize States and UTs to achieve targets & Anganwadi workers for using IT enabled tools and will eliminate Registers presently used by Anganwadi Workers thereby enabling real time monitoring of this scheme.

  • It will setup Nutrition Resource Centers involving masses through Jan Andolan for their participation on nutritiou through various activities.

LAUNCHING  DETAILS  :  This scheme was launched  by Hon. Shri Narendra Modi  on 8th March 2018 on International Women’s Day ,  at Zunuzunu in Rajsthan.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE  :  Poshan Yojana has a Jan Andolan component. All citizens, Voluntary Organisations, Corporates can take part in Building awareness about nutrition in the masses. Such awareness campaigns are initiated at Village Panchayat, Block Panchayat Levels and Wards Levels in Towns and Cities. The target groups include Adolescent Girls, Pregnant and Lactating Mothers and Mothers of Young children at Primary Levels. Husbands, Fathers and Mother in Laws along with school Teachers, Primary Health Workers, Community Leaders and persons of influence at Secondery Level.

BENEFICIARIES   :  All children specially from poor families who do not get nutritious food at their homes.
