Mahila Shakti Kendra

NAME  :  Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendra (PMMSK)

TYPE OF YOJANA  :  This is a yojana to create an interface for rural women from 115 most backward districts of India in phased manner. College student volunteers through NSS/NCC will play instrumental role in awareness generation amongst rural women regarding various important government schemes/programs and regarding important social issues. There will be a  network of support centers at District, State and National level.

PURPOSE  :  Providing one stop convergent support services for empowering Rural women with opportunities for skill development, employment,  digital literacy, health and nutrition.

  • To create awareness amongst women about various schemes launched by Central Government for empowerment of women and motivate and educate them in participating in those schemes.

  • To create awareness amongst women on various important social issues.

STRUCTURE  :  This yojana  is envisaged to work at various levels

  • At National level  domain based knowledge support  will be given by experts. At State level  the State Resource Centre for Women  will provide technical support to the respective governments on issues related to women.

  • The District and Block level Centres will provide support to MSK. Community engagement through Student Volunteers is envisioned in 115 most backward districts as part of the MSK Block level initiatives. Student volunteers will play an instrumental role in awareness generation regarding various important government schemes/ programs as well as social issues that have an impact on lives of women in a given block.

  • The District and block level Centers will also give a foothold to women empowerment schemes including BBBP in 640 districts to be covered in a phased manner.

LAUNCHING  DETAILS  :  This scheme was approved by Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on 22nd November 2017 and launched after that.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE  :  One can volunteer  in this yojana as a volunteer in educating and motivating women in participating in various yojana of Modi Government for Women Empowerment.

BENEFICIARIES  :  All women from the selected 115 Districts are the beneficiaries of this scheme.
